GENETIC MODIFICATION
Did you know today we even have Genetically Modified foods? They are currently being grown on over 200 million acres in North America and 400 million acres around the world. Canada is the world’s largest producer of GM canola. America is the world’s largest producer of GM corn, cotton and soybeans. Most of these genetically modified foods are fed to our livestock, however they are also found on our grocery store shelves.
You will never know which foods are genetically modified because our governments do not require the labeling of these foods. They are genetically modified so they will not grow until they are sprayed with a pesticide. The largest selling, genetically modified patented seeds are sprayed with a pesticide called ‘Round-Up’; hence the name ‘Round-Up ready seeds’. Now think of this.
The’ Round-Up’ ready foods grown in North America are classified as an ‘insecticide’, not a vegetable. This is because the pesticide actually becomes a part of the genetic structure (DNA) of the plant as it grows.
This falls into the category that if you believe that you do not know about it won’t hurt you, you are wrong. This is the new science of growing your food. This has never been tested nor proven safe for human consumption. Where do I start? Genetic modification is exactly what it sounds like. Scientists for billion dollar food and seed companies are actually genetically modifying your foods at the cellular level.
They are actually splicing the genes of our foods, altering their natural DNA structure and adding components to accomplish only one outcome. They tell the governments, who are generally the only ones to hear about this stuff, that they are making our foods healthier and more resilient to weeds and insects. This however, is so far from the truth that the future of mankind could be at stake. After the seed has been genetically altered into a new kind of seed, it is an invention and can now be patented.
I hereby agree and demand that our governments immediately label all foods and food products which contain genetically modified foods. I also demand that our governments cease the growing of all genetically modified foods until adequate safety testing proves them safe for human consumption and more importantly the environment.
This is not the same as cross breeding plants,
nor is it the same as using the naturally strongest plants to produce new generations of strong plants.
Over 90% of all seeds used to grow food in the world today comes from only 4 companies.
What a fool proof business this would be for generations to come. Patent all the seeds known to mankind and you will own all the food mankind can grow to eat. They sell farmers these genetically modified seeds; they sell the pesticides to spray the seeds so they will start to grow; they sell the chemical fertilizers for the soil. Our farmers have been the back bone of our survival. Now they are just slaves to multi-billion dollar corporations supported by your tax dollars.
We have become part of the largest ‘Biological Experiment’ humanity has ever entered into. Did you give these corporations permission to alter your food like this? If not then do something about it. Get this info out there for all to read and think about. Let’s unite for the safety of our very lives and our children’s lives. Individually we will almost always lose; together we are larger than any corporation. We are the consumer, and as the consumer, we have the right not to buy foods that have been Genetically Modified.
